Sergeant Jesse Colley138th Army Troop Coy, Royal Engineers. Service No. 69341.

Jesse Colley was born in Hope Bowdler on the 29th June 1879 – the son of Benjamin and Ann Colley of Church Stretton. He was a member of a large family who lived at Lilac Cottage, No. 10 Soudley. His wife Ethel lived at New Street, Bishops Castle. 

 Jesse Colley enlisted in Shrewsbury.

Sergeant Jesse Colley, Dozinghem Military Cemetery, Poperinge, West Flanders.On 26th September 1918, aged 38, he was killed in action. (He and his horse were going up the line on the evening of 26th September because there was a shortage of water. He was returning to collect his men when a stray shell landed nearby and killed him instantly).

 He is buried in Dozinghem Military Cemetery, Poperinge, West Flanders. Grave No. XIV. G. 11.
